Coronavirus (COVID-19) Precautions and HFLM...What You Should Know:

-Updated 95/17/2021

We know it's important to you to be armed with the right information about coronavirus (COVID-19) and how it may impact your life, your family and your environment. With that in mind, it's important to us that we share with you some important facts about Healthy For Life Meals (HFLM) and the precautions we're taking. We hope this information helps give you peace of mind:

  • HFLM is one of the very few meal service companies in the U.S. that is inspected by the FDA and USDA. Because of this, if you’re purchasing meals from us, you have the security of knowing that the food you’re eating has been prepared, packaged and distributed following the absolute strictest of food safety practices.

  • HFLM is inspected every single day that we’re in operation by the MN Department of Agriculture. Yes, you read that right....every single day. This is in contrast to restaurants, whose inspections happen only about once a year and are conducted by their state or county health department.

  • Our normal operation involves following approved safe food handling practices as defined by the following agencies: USDA, MN Department of Agriculture, FDA, CDC, and MN Department of Health. Some of these practices include the wearing of gloves and hairnets, frequent washing of hands, providing laundered uniforms, frequent cleaning and sanitizing of our equipment and facility throughout the production day, and many additional measures. Our entire kitchen team wears masks, and we have created safe social distancing practices in all possible areas of our facility.

  • Current information by the FDA shows no evidence of food or food packaging being associated with the transmission of COVID-19. Unlike foodborne gastrointestinal (GI) viruses (e.g. norovirus and hepatitis A) that often make people ill through contaminated food, COVID-19 is a virus that causes respiratory illness. Foodborne exposure to this virus is not known to be a route of transmission.

  • We only purchase our food ingredients from FDA-inspected facilities.

  • Our delivery drivers wear masks, sanitize hands, and change gloves between each and every delivery. Our trucks are sanitized between each route.

  • As standard procedure, we have always monitored our kitchen team for any symptoms of illness, and continue this practice daily. As an added precaution, we have now implemented more detailed health/symptom screening of our team members upon entry to our facility each day, including temperature checks and symptom questionnaires. Any employee that shows or reports symptoms is excluded from operation until it is safe to return to work. Our team members do receive paid time off (sick time).

  • The FDA and USDA continue to closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. We are reviewing updates from these agencies regularly and as they release any new information regarding new, suggested precautions, we implement those precautions immediately.

The CDC asks us all to know the facts about coronavirus disease and help stop the spread of rumors. For more information, please see the CDC website.
